Special thanks to the 70 volunteers who attended making this JoyJ session extra successful!

Come along with SVDP and unite with JoyJ on their homeless outreach programs which include the Midnight Run.

JoyJ provides essential support to disadvantaged communities, including people suffering from homelessness and poverty.

One of their main goals is to simply

Connect With Your Community”

All you need to bring is yourself! Their programs provide a chance for engagement directly between volunteers and people in need. By just being there you are helping another person so much more than you will ever realize.

Our Conference here at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle (SVDP SPA NYC) wants to share that the Friends of the Poor Walk 2025 was a complete success! Special thanks to everyone involved!

This year on Saturday, September 27th at 9:30 AM we all gathered in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st St.). After Father gave us his blessing, we marched up Fifth Avenue to 84th St.

It concluded at the church of St. Ignatius Loyola (Park Avenue between 83rd and 84th St.) where Mass was offered followed by a nice lunch.

Our Conference here at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle (SVDP SPA NYC), needs your help so that we can continue to help our sisters and brothers in urgent need.  Members of our Conference continuously meet with our community neighbors who are seeking resources for assistance, many of whom have never had to ask for help before.

The St Vincent de Paul Society at SPA does much more than manage St. Paul’s monthly food pantry which now distributes over 300 bags of food. Because of this your participation and support are vital to SVDP successfully assisting so many people in multiple ways which include clothing, housing, medical, utilities and so many more.

Needs come in a multitude of ways and may include food, shelter, eviction prevention, financial compromises, utility assistance, education, medical assistance and so much more. All the support the Conference gives is only possible by the generous donations we receive. Please give what you can. No amount is too small.

Please click on the Donate Now button to support our SVDP Conference. In doing so, you help us to help those in urgent need.

How you can join us in helping our sisters and brothers in need

  •
    • Monetary support allows our conference to assist in various ways including but not limited to rent (eviction prevention), utility payments, transportation, medical expenses, education, and food.
    • Spiritual support may include prayers for or with those in need; inviting them to church or providing a prayer card.  However, spiritual support/acceptance is not a requirement for assistance by the SVDP Conference.
    • Lending a compassionate ear or shoulder to cry on, can be just the solution needed.

Home Visits

From the beginning of the Society, the spirituality of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul begins and lives in the home visit. Our Vincentian heart is formed in the home visit. The visitor becomes the guest and the person being helped is the master.

It symbolizes the fact that Vincentians are to reach out to the needy, rather than requiring them to report to an outside service site.  It is in the home environment that needy persons feel most free to entrust their stories of struggle to the helper.  It is there, in the family setting, that Vincentians are asked to listen, offer humble advice, and render assistance.

Vincentians always visit in pairs. This recognizes the fact that Christ sent the Apostles out in pairs to preach the gospel and administer to the sick and oppressed.

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is offered through the Loaves and Fishes Ministry of St. Paul the Apostle.  We manage, organize, package and distribute bags of food to those in need.  Through the efforts and time of SVdP volunteers and conference members more than 250 people/families, are served monthly.  The Food Pantry is offered every third Saturday of the month regardless of weather conditions.  The distribution supplements non-perishable grocery items to assist those who may be low on funds/food towards the end of the month.  The bag typically consists of proteins, carbohydrates and dairy items.

If you or someone you know is in need of what the St. Paul the Apostle Food Pantry offers, please do not hesitate to visit us at the Parish Center: 405 West 59th Street.  Distribution is from 8:00AM to 10:00AM on the THIRD Saturday of every month.
